GREAT FOR GEN-XERS!
THIS BOOK REALLY CAUGHT MY ATTENTION JUST BECAUSE I'M A NATIVE OF SOUTH CAROLINA. BUT ONCE I STARTED READING IT, I REALLY COULDN'T, AND DIDN'T WANT TO PUT IT DOWN. THIS BOOK IS PERFECT FOR THE MYSTERY LOVER WHO GETS BORED WITH THOSE OLD FASHIONED AGATHA CHRISTIE STYLE NOVELS. SUSAN CHASE IS THE GEN-X HERCULE POIROT WITH AN EXTREME EDGE. IT'S GREAT TO SEE HOW A MALE WRITER CAN REALLY FIND THE ESSENCE OF A YOUNG WOMAN AND PORTRAY HER IN A WAY WHERE SHE'S NOT THE DAMSEL IN DISTRESS. INSTEAD, AFTER QUESTIONING A MAN, HE'S LOOKING FOR HELP HIMSELF. I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO ANY YOUNG WOMAN WHO IS INDEPENDENT AND DOESN'T TAKE CRAP FROM ANYBODY. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING FUN AND LIGHT TO READ THAT WILL REALLY TAKE YOU TO ANOTHER PLACE AND TIME, THIS IS DEFINITLY THE BOOK FOR YOU!

fun, light, quick who-done-it
What an enjoyable book! I live in the Charleston area, and this author definitely has the lowcountry pegged. At times Myrtle Beach is swarming with teenagers and young adults and this mystery is SO interesting that it's hard to put the book down because the action is never held up with overly descriptive, boring paragraphs. Chase, the PI who lives at the marina, is so believably real as well as the storyline is. The lowcountry "aristocrat" O'Keys family is so interesting. I liked the book a lot and the flow of the story made this a quick page turning read. Jenny's overbearing mother is a piece of work. This one will keep you reading til you're through so don't plan on getting anything else done once you start this book:-}

He and the book is awesome!!!
I met this guy at a book signing in Charleston. And his personality stands out as well as his book, too. " The Color her Dead " is a very interesting, fiction-mystery book that leads you to ,one of the Southeast's tourist spots, Myrtle Beach. This book explains that Myrtle Beach does have " History " and in it, it has some mysteries that the readers as well as residents living at the " beach " don't know. And Steve Brown tells you all about the mysteries that is hidden in his books. If you have " spare " time you have to read this book, it's awesome!!! so awesome, you have to read to see for yourself!

Disappointed
I frequently buy travel guide books when going on vacation, however, I found this one disappointing. Although, it was filled with a variety of information, the authors did not share their personal opinions with the reader. I made some bad choices based on the book's content. After our vacation, I felt that had I written to the Welcome Center prior to our trip, I would have been equally satisfied.

A Myrtle Beach Vacation
I just finished reading this travel guide to Myrtle Beach and I am definitely primed to go now!The book does a great job of being truthful and honest about the lodgings, prices of the restaurants and quality of the cuisines, where the best golf courses are (for the boyfriend), and just how crazy the nightlife can get. I'm staying at Broadway at the Beach, and apparently I am in for a huge party! I absolutely cannot wait and I had to get out my bathing suit and model it after reading the book. I just wish that more pictures had been included so I could see those beaches ahead of time...

Not that great
Most of the imformation is available from the 2 or 3 freebie beach guides that can be found everywhere in Myrtle Beach. And, just at a glance, I could see that a number of great restaurants were missing.
